| MUCUGÊ,
a colonial and historical town whose population is considered to be the
oldest in the DIAMANTINA HIGHLANDS. In the beginning, it was only a huntsman´s
village; in 1844, on the Mucugê rivers banks, a solitary traveller
discovered the first diamonds and until the middle of last century the
region was famous for its mines, luxury and wealth.
However, the diamonds were an ephemeral wealth, the uncontrolled exploration dried out the superficial veins, making its exploration difficult and expensive. Since the nature and environment preservation is the priority, the diamond exploration became prohibited. DIAMANTINA HIGHLANDS, region where MUCUGÊ is located, is part of a world heritage site. It is rich in beautiful landscapes, rivers, waterfalls, canyons, caves and a diverse flora, that is considered by the Brazilian and international scientists as one of Brazil´s and the worlds most important one, which includes orchides, bromeliads as well as unique species. This region and its beautiful landscapes have the ideal climate for the coffee plantation, favouring the blooming and the fruits maturation. The daily strict follow ups of the plantation, the manual selective harvest, the preparation and drying process allow SOL DO PARAGUASSÚ FARM to produce excellent hulled coffee and peeled cherry which are well known both nationally and internationally for their excellent quality.
